Elsternwick is well serviced by a railway line with a station serviced by Connex trains on the Sandringham line. A trip to the CBD is approx 11 minutes once the train is caught and travels through neighbouring suburbs of Ripponlea , ,Balaclava, Windsor and on to Prahran , South Yarra , Richmond and then the CBD.
There is a bus depot and street stops with buses going to St Kilda , Prahran , Elwood , Chadstone, CBD and out to the northern and western suburbs of Deer Park , Sunshine and new suburb Caroline Springs .
The famous nunber 67 tram trundles along the length of glenhuntly rd linking Elsternwick to Glenhuntly , North and South Caulfield , Murrumbeena and Carnegie.
Older style W40 St Kilda Beach and Richmond Trams also travel the length of Glenhuntly Rd through Elsternwick on their routes.
